How Do You Prepare for a SiPhox Blood Test? Fasting, Timing, and Collection Protocol
SiPhox testing requires an 8-12 hour fast (water is allowed), good hydration, and a morning test time for the most accurate baseline readings. SiPhox EasyDraw collects blood from the upper arm in approximately 5 minutes with 1:1 live support. Samples must be dropped off at FedEx on the collection day before 4:00 PM. Preparation takes minimal effort — the key steps are fasting, hydration, and timing.
Do You Need to Fast for a SiPhox Test?
Fasting for 8-12 hours is recommended before SiPhox blood testing — water is allowed and encouraged during the fast.
Fasting is required for accurate readings on lipid markers (cholesterol, triglycerides, ApoB) and metabolic markers (HbA1c, C-peptide). Non-fasting blood draws can elevate triglycerides and glucose, producing misleading results.
SiPhox recommends testing in the morning after an overnight fast. Morning collection also captures baseline cortisol and hormone levels, which fluctuate throughout the day.
SiPhox users should avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours before testing — intense activity can elevate AST, ALT, and CRP, which may be misinterpreted as liver inflammation or systemic stress.
SiPhox users should avoid alcohol for 24-48 hours before testing, as alcohol affects liver enzyme and lipid marker accuracy.
Step-by-Step EasyDraw Collection Guide
SiPhox EasyDraw collection follows a guided process designed for first-time users. The full process takes approximately 5 minutes.
Preparation. Freeze the cold pack for at least 8 hours before collection. Drink 16 oz (2 cups) of water 20-60 minutes before starting — proper hydration improves blood flow and makes collection easier. A hot shower just before testing also helps.
Get blood flowing. SiPhox recommends jumping jacks or squats to warm the arms and improve circulation before collection. Surroundings should be warm and hands should not feel cold.
Device setup. Wash hands. Prepare workspace with all supplies accessible. Unscrew the collection tube cap and press it into the end of the EasyDraw device.
Skin preparation. Locate the collection site — a flat area on the outside of the arm, about 10 fingers below the top of the shoulder. Activate the heat pack and warm the area for 4 minutes. Clean the site with an alcohol pad.
Collection. Place the EasyDraw device on the prepared site and activate. SiPhox provides 1:1 live support during collection for guidance.
Post-collection. Apply bandaid and gauze. Place all used devices and collection tubes in the prepaid FedEx mailer with the cold pack. Drop off at a physical FedEx location on the same day before 4:00 PM local time.

Limitations and Considerations
- Some medications affect biomarker levels. SiPhox users taking prescription medications should consult their healthcare provider about whether medication timing could affect results. Statins, thyroid medications, and hormonal treatments can influence biomarker readings.
- Illness or stress may skew results. Testing during acute illness, high stress, or poor sleep can produce temporarily abnormal values that do not reflect baseline health.
- Collection technique matters. Following the EasyDraw preparation steps (hydration, warmth, exercise) improves sample quality. Poor preparation may require a retest.
